About

I write contemporary romantic suspense shaped by emotional depth and the way relationships evolve over time

It’s the kind of storytelling I’ve always been drawn to — where connection develops gradually, and the smallest shifts between people carry the most weight.

My journey into writing

I’ve always been a reader and since I was a teenager, romance has been my favourite genre. There's something deeply satisfying about a story that truly earns its ending. I appreciate strong characters who strive for what they achieve, and relationships that develop organically over time. Combine that with a thread of suspense, and you have exactly the kind of book I love to read – and now, the kind I love to write.

What shapes my stories

My stories focus on what sits beneath the surface — the smaller shifts in character and relationship that shape the story.

I’m less interested in overt drama, and more in a sense of pressure that builds gradually through detail, atmosphere, and the decisions the characters make.

It leads to a slower kind of storytelling, where connection carries as much weight as the plot.

What I want readers to feel

I’d like readers to feel as though they’ve spent time in the characters’ world — watching the story unfold and the relationships take shape naturally.

Above all, I hope there’s a sense of connection to the people within the novel. The feeling of having met someone you’d like to spend a little longer with, and of hoping things work out for them.

"Cath Bell's writing creates a world you don't want to leave. Her characters feel so real, and their journeys resonate deeply."
