When Eleanor decides to redecorate her late husband's study in a colour he would have hated, Nathan offers to help.
She expects a tin of paint and perhaps a roller.
Nathan arrives with a van full of decorating equipment.
Faced with what appears to be enough supplies to renovate a small country estate, his only explanation is:
"I may have overestimated..."
The scene always makes me smile because it captures exactly who Nathan is.
These days there are lots of romance heroes who fall into familiar categories. The billionaire. The bad boy. The morally grey anti-hero. The alpha male who insists he knows what's best.
Nathan isn't really any of those things.
He's confident, capable and protective when he needs to be, but his strength comes from kindness rather than control.
He notices things.
He remembers things.
He turns up when it matters.
Most importantly, he respects Eleanor enough to let her find her own strength instead of trying to save her.
For me, that's what makes him romantic.
Not the grand gestures.
Not the dramatic speeches.
Just the simple act of showing up.
And if that occasionally involves enough decorating equipment to renovate Buckingham Palace, well... nobody's perfect.
